The European Neuroscience and Society Network (ENSN) aimed to establish a multidisciplinary forum for timely and necessary engagement with with the ethical, social and legal implications of recent developments in neurosciences. Through the development of research strategies, conferences and workshops, the ENSN looked to bring together leading European neuroscientists and social scientists for sustained discussions and cross-disciplinary exchanges about the present and future impact of advances in the neurosciences on our lives. The network was funded by the European Science Foundation and operated for five years, from June 2007 to June 2012.
The ENSN’s inaugural conference, “Neurosocieties: the rise and impact of the new brain sciences”, was held at the BIOS Centre in the London School of Economics in Novembe 2007, bringing together 100 people from the neurosciences and social sciences and covering topics from neuroeconomics to neuropharmacology.
